Fr. Justin Faler

Archdiocese of New Orleans

Ordained: 1945

Died: 1979

Assigned as Follows:

  • St. Jane de Chantal (Abita Springs, LA)
  • St. Joseph Abbey (St. Benedict, LA)

Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Justin Faler:

Father Justin Faler was an order priest who served under the Order of Saint Benedict, also known as the Benedictines. He was first named publicly as accused of sexual misconduct with a minor on the New Orleans Archdiocese's 2018 list of credibly accused clergy members. The list notes that the allegation against Father Faler was received in 2002 and referred to abuse that occurred in the late 1950's.

Justin Faler died in 1979.

According to a separate list that was published by St. Joseph Abbey Seminary College in 2018, Justin Faler was alleged to have abused two minors in the late 1950's. They report that the allegations against Justin Faler were reported in 2002 and 2006. Faler worked at St. Joseph Abbey in St. Benedict for the later part of his career.

No further information has been released by the Archdiocese of New Orleans or St. Joseph Abbey about the specific abuse or allegations against him.

In April of 2020, the Archdiocese of New Orleans filed for bankruptcy protection. As part of its bankruptcy, the Archdiocese of New Orleans will be reviewing and paying claims for anyone sexually abused by diocesan priests and lay employees. This will likely include claims filed on behalf of anyone whose case may be beyond the statute of limitations.
