Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Louis Perreault:
According to media reports, Fr. Louis G. Perreault was accused of sexually abusing a minor from 1990 to 1992, while serving at Our Lady of the Valley in Hemet, CA. The boy was between the ages of 13 and 15 at the time of the abuse. The diocese was made aware of allegations in 2011, and it was reported to law enforcement. In 2019, a civil lawsuit was filed against the Diocese of San Bernardino.
Perreault was permanently banned from ministry in the diocese and retired without faculties. Perreault was included in the Diocese of San Bernardino's 2018 list of clergy credibly accused of child sexual abuse. He was also included on the Diocese of Lakes Charles list. Perreault's whereabouts and whether he has access to children from 2018 until his death in 2020 are unknown.
