Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Damien "Patrick" Chong:
Br. Damien (Patrick) Chong was a member of the Carmelite religious order. He was ordained a priest in 1956, and served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Los Angeles. He worked in several other Dioceses across the country, including Cleveland, Washington DC, Chicago, and Boston.
According to media reports, in Br. Chong was accused by at least one person and was named in one civil lawsuit alleging that he sexually abused a boy from 1984 to 1986 while working at Crespi Carmelite High School. The victim claims that Br. Chong would give him alcohol and sexually abuse him after football practice at his home.
Br. Chong left Los Angeles in 1989 and relocated to a parish in Chicago. Br. Chong was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles' 2013 list of priests credibly accused of sexual misconduct involving minors. He died in 2014 while living in Boston.
