Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Santiago Tamayo:
Father Santiago Tamayo was ordained a priest in the Philippines in 1959. He started to work in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in 1968 and was incardinated in 1978. According to media reports, he along with six other priests, was accused in a 1984 civil suit of sexually abusing a 16-year-old girl from 1978 through 1984. He fled to the Philippines shortly after the lawsuit was filed, where the Archdiocese continued to pay him.
In 1982, the girl gave birth to a daughter. In 1991, Father Tamayo publicly apologized to Milla for having sex with her. The claims against all seven accused priests were settled for $500,000 in a $660 million settlement in 2007. His personnel files were released in January 2013, and showed an allegation that he also sexually abused a minor boy.
