Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Brother Al Behm:
In 2019, Br. Al Behm was publicly named on the Ohio-based Glenmary Home Missioners' list of credibly accused clergy. Behm joined Glenmary in 1960. Behm's also listed on the Charlotte Diocese 2019 list of credibly accused clergy.
Behm served in the following Dioceses: Bridgeport (CT), Charlotte (NC), Cincinnati (OH), Covington (KY), Lexington (KY), Nashville (TN), New Orleans (LA), San Francisco (CA), Savannah (GA).
Very little is known of Behm's activities within the church as the Archdiocese of San Francisco has not released any information about Behm's assignment history nor the year he was ordained. In addition, information about the nature of the alleged sexual abuse, or Behm's assignments at the time of the alleged abuse is unknown.
Behm served as a campus minister at Western Carolina University in North Carolina, part of the Diocese of Charlotte. According to media reports, he was not accused of committing any crimes while at the school.
It is only noted that Behm sexually abused a minor in the 1970s in Kentucky.
Behm left the religious order in 1993.
As of December of 2020, Behm was volunteering at the Phaung Daw Oo Integrated Monastic Education School with Education Outreach Myanmar. According to the school's website, he was working there as a volunteer for about a year and had worked previously with underserved children in Thailand. As of 2022, Behm has returned to Bangkok.
