According to media reports, Fr. Haas has been accused by at least 100 people of abuse while he was assigned to Fr. Ryan High School in Nashville, Tennessee. From 1964-1965, Hass was assigned to Catholic High School in Little Rock, AR. In 1967, he was transferred to Kentucky for "treatment." According to reports, one man told the diocese in 1996 that he was abused at age 15 in 1961 by Haas. The Diocese gave him $5,700 in exchange for a release and a confidentiality agreement. Another victim came forward in 1999, alleging abuse in 1963.

There are no known victims in Arkansas but multiple victims in Tennessee. He was also named on the Diocese of Nashville list in 2018.

In 2019, Haas was named on the Diocese of Owensboro list which included priests from another diocese who at one time served within the Diocese of Owensboro and against whom was made at least one substantiated allegation of the sexual abuse of a minor occurred outside the Diocese of Owensboro. In addition, in 2020, Haas was named on the Diocese of Memphis Reports and the Diocese of Knoxville's list of credibly accused clergy for allegations of sexual abuse of a minor.
