Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Moise Gremillion:
Fr. Moise Gremillion was ordained a priest in 1933, and served in the Diocese of Shreveport. According to media reports, in February of 2019, The Diocese of Alexandria included Fr. Gremillion's name on its list of "clergy duly incardinated or at one time serving in the Diocese of Alexandria accused of sexual misconduct and abuse of minors by allegations brought by victims or by written testimony." The list notes allegations of child sexual abuse in the 1960s against Fr. Gremillion came before the review board in 2019. The allegations were deemed credible.
In 2020, the Diocese of Shreveport released Msgr. Friend's name under the heading, "priests who served in the former Diocese of Alexandria-Shreveport removed for sexual abuse of minors." Prior to the founding of the Diocese of Shreveport in 1986, churches in the Shreveport area were under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Alexandria-Shreveport. According to church protocol, the files of accused clergy members remain with the Diocese of Alexandria.
Fr. Moise Gremillion died in 1973.
