Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Roberto Jaramillo:

Roberto Jaramillo was a former priest in the Diocese of Sacramento. He worked at multiple churches across the Sacramento and Roseville area between 1995 and 2005. Jaramillo, now 70, left the Diocese of Sacramento to work for the Archdiocese of Atlanta before returning to his home diocese in Colombia in 2008.

According to media reports, on September 22, 2022, the Diocese of Sacramento added Fr. Roberto Jaramillo to its list of clergy who have been "credibly accused" of child sex abuse. Fr. Jaramillo has been accused of the repeated sexual abuse and rape of a young girl between 1996 and 1999. He is now the subject of a felony arrest warrant on those charges. The diocese received reports of the sexual abuse allegations in 2021. The diocese then notified law enforcement to investigate the matter, and Jaramillo was officially the subject of an investigation by the Sacramento Police Department. This week, the review board approved adding Jaramillo's name to the credibly accused list.

Multiple Reports of Sex Abuse By Fr. Jaramillo

The diocese has received two additional allegations involving Jaramillo. In 1999, Jaramillo was accused of kissing a juvenile boy. Jaramillo denied this accusation, and investigations by both the diocese and local law enforcement at the time found insufficient evidence to warrant further action. In 2020, the diocese received a report of Jaramillo sexually abusing an adult male in 2001. The victim was encouraged to report the matter to law enforcement.
