A 72-Year Old Man was Arrested for Sexually Assaulting a Woman with Dementia in Their Pompano Beach Assisted Living Facility

On October 23, 2022, a 72-year-old man was arrested for sexually assaulting an elderly woman with Alzheimer's and dementia at the Pompano Beach assisted living facility they both reside. Guillermo Llanos was charged with sexual battery of a victim 18 or older with special conditions. Charges of battery on a person over 65 and burglary with assault or battery were later added. Llanos remains in the Broward County Jail on bonds totaling $50,000.

According to the arrest affidavit, Llanos and the victim are residents of The W at Pompano Beach, an assisted living facility for seniors with Alzheimer's, dementia, and other mental conditions. The victim claims Llanos entered her private room, which is located in the opposite wing of the facility. Llanos went over to the victim, where he found her lying in her bed, and pulled down her adult diaper mid-thigh. The victim told investigators that Llanos touched her vagina without her consent and against her will. The victim screamed out, "No" and "stop."

A nearby staff member heard her cries for help and came to the victim's room. When she entered, she saw Llanos hoovered over the victim, who was laying in her bed with her adult diaper pulled down. The staff member reported that she saw Llanos struggling with the victim, with one hand on her vagina, attempting to penetrate digitally. When Llanos saw the staff member, he ran out of the room. The staff member reported the incident to her supervisor, who then went to question Llanos. He was back in his room and told the supervisor that he was never in the victim's room. The incident was then reported to Broward Sheriff's Office.

In a video taken post-Miranda, Llano admits he did go into the victim's room but only because he heard her calling for help but never touched her. He told the investigator that the victim's diaper was already pulled down when he arrived. He then continued and admitted that he tried to help the victim pull up her diaper but did not touch her vagina. He then stated that he may have accidentally touched it while trying to assist her.

This is not the first sexual offense for Llanos. Media reports and the affidavit state that during their investigation, Broward Sheriff's detectives said they learned Llanos was previously arrested in April 2021 after being caught naked in bed with a mentally disabled 77-year-old woman at ProMedica (formerly Heartland) living facility in Boca Raton. Administrators at that facility said the woman had Alzheimer's disease, and Llanos was diagnosed with schizophrenia, but he knew the victim's condition.
