Kendall Psychotherapist Arrested, Accused of Patient Molestation

| May 26, 2017 | Firm News

Doctors are trusted members of society who are counted on when patients need them the most. Earlier this week, psychotherapist Pedro Garcia of Kendall allegedly broke that trust when a 13-year-old patient of his came forward to report that she was the victim of molestation during a recent visit to his office located at 9010 SW 137th Avenue, Unit 114, in Miami, Florida.

Garcia, age 67, is accused of lifting the victim’s shirt and rubbing her stomach, grabbing her during an attempt to escape, and kissing her while rubbing her body, according to NBC 6 Miami. A judge has ordered Garcia to stay away from all children under 18 years old. Garcia, who is listed at the owner of PJ PsychoTherapy, is a well-known mental health counselor who focuses his practice on insomnia, anxiety, and ADHD related cases.

Incidents such as this are a reminder that all allegations of sexual abuse must be thoroughly investigated by law enforcement and that employers — especially those whose employees interact with children — must be especially vigilant in the supervision and protection of our children at all times.
