Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Louis Steingraber:

Father Louis Steingraber was ordained a priest in 1973 and served in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. He served in multiple parishes throughout his career. According to the Philadelphia 2005 Grand Jury Report, in February 1983, the Archdiocese received information that Steingraber sexually abused two boys in eighth grade (approx. 13 years old) while he was assigned to St. Robert in Chester.  Steingraber was eventually removed from ministry and sent to Villa St. John Vianney, a notorious treatment center for pedophile priests in Downingtown, Pennsylvania.

Upon his discharge from St. John Vianney in June 1983, the Archbishop of Philadelphia assigned Steingraber to Our Lady of Lourdes in Philadelphia.  Less than three months later, he was the subject of a new allegation. This time, the victim alleged he was abused as a 16 year old while Steingraber was assigned to St. Gabriel in Philadelphia, sometime between 1977-1982.

Steingraber died in 1987.  Though he was not in active ministry at the time, Steingraber was still a priest of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia at the time of his death.  He was likely still receiving financial support and insurance benefits from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia when he died.
