Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Msgr. Bonaventure Ciufoli:

Msgr. Bonaventure Ciufoli was from a prominent family of Roman nobility. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1951, and served in the Diocese of Erie as a priest and academic. He taught Philosophy, Ethics, Marriage Guidance, Art Appreciation and Italian at Gannon College during the 1950s, but returned to Italy in the late ‘60s. His classes were very popular with the students.

According to media reports, in April 2018, his name was included on the Diocese of Erie list of clergy credibly accused of child sexual abuse. Msgr. Ciufoli was not identified in the August 2018 grand jury report.  The Diocese of Erie has not provided the public with any information on the number of allegations against Ciufoli, nor has it released any details of the allegation(s) such as the age/gender of the alleged victim(s).

Msgr. Ciufoli died in July 1987.
