Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. John McDevitt:

Father John McDevitt, an Oblate of St. Francis de Sales, appears on the Diocese of Harrisburg’s August 2018 list of accused priests. According to the Diocese of Harrisburg, it received an allegation that McDevitt kissed a child inappropriately during the course of his ministry in the Diocese of Harrisburg. In 2009, McDevitt was also named in a civil lawsuit filed against the Oblates on behalf of a man who said he was sexually abused by McDevitt, his teacher at Father Judge High School in Philadelphia from 1990 to 1991. According to abuse survivor accounts, McDevitt also molested children at Camp Brisson, a boys’ summer camp (located in Cecil County, Maryland) which was run by the Oblates of St Francis de Sales. According to the Diocese of Harrisburg, McDevitt died in 2009.
