Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Eric Ensey:

Father Eric Ensey was ordained a priest in 1995, who served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Scranton. According to media reports, in 2001, it was revealed that he, along with another priest in the Diocese of Scranton and Society of St. John, Fr. Carlos Urrutigoity, had been accused of sexual misconduct with a 16-year-old male student at St. Gregory Academy.

The victim said he was a junior in high school when the alleged abuse began in 1997. The victim said Ensey gave him alcohol and tobacco before coercing him into sexual acts on several occasions. He also said that he had to resist further advances Father Ensey made three years later, while the young man was at seminary, studying to become a priest himself.

Ensey was suspended in 2002 and the victim sued the Diocese of Scranton in 2003. The suit was settled in 2005. Despite being permanently removed from ministry in 2002, Ensey continued to function as a priest on some occasions, particularly for fundraising.

According to media reports, Ensey was laicized (removed from the priesthood) in 2014.  His name appears on the Diocese of Scranton's 2018 list of credibly accused priests.

In 2018, Ensey was named publicly as accused in the PA Grand Jury Report. His name was also included on  Diocese of Scranton 2018 list of clergy credibly accused of child sexual abuse.

Ensey is believed to be alive and residing in Redding, CA.
