Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father James McIntyre:

Over the course of Father James McIntyre’s tenure with the Diocese of Camden, he had several accusations made against him. This fact is made even more disturbing because of McIntyre’s position of Director of Personnel at the Diocese of Camden, which put him in charge of selecting seminarians and overseeing the priests in Camden.

According to media reports, McIntyre was sued in 1994 in a RICO lawsuit against the Diocese of Camden that alleged McIntyre, Dennis Rigney, and Francis Flemming abused minors on several occasions at St. Pius X Church in Runnemede, New Jersey. One victim claimed that McIntyre penetrated him anally and other priests sexually abused him in the living room of the rectory at the St. Pius Church in Cherry Hill. The victim was between 15 and 18 years old at the time.

Two brothers went to the Diocese of Camden in 1994 to complain of abuse from 1963 to 1968 but Bishop McHugh rebuffed them. McIntyre was a seminary student at the time.

Yet another lawsuit was dismissed in January 2003.

Surprisingly, despite all of these allegations, McIntyre’s name does not appear on the Diocese of Camden’s February 2019 list of credibly accused priests.

McIntyre died in 2004.
