Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Patrick F Magee:

In 2003, during a visit to see his family in Ireland, Fr. Patrick F Magee discovered he was the subject of a sexual abuse allegation from nearly 30 years before. The local police arrested Magee and charged him with “an act of gross indecency on or toward a child” from 1965 to 1969.

In 2004, the charges dropped after the victim committed suicide. The prosecution decided that without their crucial witness, they no longer had a case.

The Diocese of Trenton refused to comment on Magee’s future with the church at the time of the allegation but confirmed with the press that the church removed Magee from his post at Sacred Heart church. The Bishop of Trenton held power to restore or deny Magee from rejoining the church.

According to media reports, the abuse occurred during Magee’s time at Seminary while still in Ireland. Though the death of this accuser dropped the main charge against Magee, the investigation into Magee’s past uncovered a previous arrest against him for abusing another child during the same period.

Since this time, the Diocese of Trenton released a list of every priest with a credible claim of sexual assault against minors to their name. Magee is on this list. Magee is believed to be living in Northern Ireland.
