Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Timothy Pisik:

In 1990, Father Timothy Pisak was arrested for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old. He pleaded guilty to sexual assault after admitting to the charges. When the Diocese of Camden learned of Pisik's arrest, the Diocese immediately removed him from ministry.

The assault is related to the abuse of a teen by other priests including James Ryan and John Kelly, who allegedly introduced Pisik to the victim. Pisik was sentenced to 7 years and served 5.

Pisik was named in a 1994 lawsuit against the Diocese of Camden alleging a broad coverup of sexual abuse. He was later named in a 2005 lawsuit along with Ryan and Kelly.

In 2006, after his release from prison, Pisik was cited for failure to register an out-of-state address change as a convicted sex offender, which is a misdemeanor. Pisik had been living in New York for 9 years before it was discovered that he had not registered his move to a different state. Pisik claimed that he thought the Atlantic County prosecutors knew where he was.

Upon his first release from prison, the Diocese of Camden asked that he be laicized, but the Vatican sent the case back and ordered a lengthy internal church trial if the Diocese of Camden wished to pursue the matter.

Pisik died in 2008 before he could be officially laicized by the Church. He had been living off of a small church pension prior to his death.

Pisik was recently included on the Diocese of Camden list of priests who were named as being "credibly accused" of child sex abuse.

According to Bishop Sullivan, the list, "includes those who admitted to the abuse, those who were found guilty after a trial in the church courts or the civil courts, and others against whom the evidence was so overwhelming as to be virtually unquestionable."
