Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Marcin Burek:

In 2011, Seminarian Marcin Burek was arrested on charges of luring, resisting arrest, prostitution, and disorderly conduct. According to the Monmouth County Police Department, Burek, a Polish citizen studying in the United States on a student visa was held at the Monmouth County jail on $20,000 bail. Burek was within his first month of pastoral service with the Diocese of Trenton at the time of the arrest. According to the victims, Burek approached girls on the street and attempted to coerce them into his car with the promise of alcohol. The four girls in question ranged between the ages of 13 to 19.

According to media reports, one of the victims claimed Burek drunkenly accosted her on the street and offered to pay her $10 to engage in sexual intercourse with him. This pattern occurred with each of the four victims. Police finally caught Burek as he drove around the neighborhood enticing young women to enter his vehicle. Since the arrest, the Diocese of Trenton has pulled down Burek’s bio from their website. According to archives of the webpage, what excited Burek most about becoming a priest was working with parish youth to help them discover their gifts.

Burek was suspended from the seminary following his arrest. While he denied all charges, it does not appear that he was ordained a priest in Trenton. His current whereabouts are unknown but he may have returned to his native Poland.
