Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Gerard J. Brown:

In February 2019, the Diocese of Trenton released a list of credibly accused pedophile priests which included Fr. Gerard Brown. According to the Diocese of Trenton, multiple victims have accused Brown over the years.

According to media reports, in June 2019, one accuser stated publicly that when he was a 16-year-old seminary student and parishioner at St. Mary of the Lake in Lakewood, New Jersey, Brown abused and attempted to rape him.

In December 2019, a lawsuit was filed by a man who alleged Brown abused him at age 15. He said church officials called him a liar at the time, and that they covered up multiple cases involving the priest.

Brown’s name appears on the Diocese of Trenton’s February 2019 list of clergy credibly accused of child sex abuse.

Brown died in 2013. At the time of his death, he was a retired priest in good standing.
