Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father John Bergeur:

Father John Bergeur was ordained to the priesthood in 1945. He served in multiple parishes throughout his career in the the Archdiocese of Newark. According to media reports, in February 2019, the Archdiocese of Newark released a list of 63 priests "credibly accused" of child sex abuse. One of the names listed was that of Father John Bergeur.

The only specifics provided were the parishes and schools to which Father Bergeur was assigned, and the number of victims known. Father Bergeur was listed as having one credible accusation of sexual abuse. No information was provided by the Archdiocese of Newark as to the age/gender of the victim, nor as to Father Bergeur's assignment at the time of abuse.

Father Bergeur is deceased, according to the Archdiocese of Newark.
