Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father J. Glenn Murray:
According to media reports, in 2005, a report was made to the Maryland Province of the Society of Jesus that FatherJ. Glenn Murray had improperly touched a male high school student in the early 1980s. The abuse happened while he was serving at St. Frances-Charles Hall, now known as St. Frances Academy in Baltimore.
The Jesuits said they informed civil authorities, but the case was closed because the allegations could not be verified when Father Murray’s accuser wouldn’t speak with them. The Province’s Review Board determined that the allegation was not credible, and Father Murray was allowed to remain in ministry.
In June 2011, the Jesuits revisited the case when Father Murray was being considered for a new assignment. Based on new information that showed the allegation to be credible, Father Murray was permanently removed from ministry.
Father Murray is currently living in a monitored residence within the Jesuit Community.
