Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father James V. Lannon:
According to media reports, in 2002, a woman alleged that she was sexually abused by Father James V. Lannon in the mid-1930s. The Archdiocese of Washington said that the allegation was first reported in 1953. Father Lannon was suspended.
In 1954, he was temporarily removed, evaluated and returned to ministry.
In 1958, Father Lannon was permanently removed from parish ministry, presumably after a second allegation was received.
He died in 1984.
In October 2018, Father Lannon’s name appeared on the Archdiocese of Washington’s list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors.
In April 2019, Father Lannon’s name appeared on the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors.
