Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Thomas Corbett:

In 2002, Father Thomas Corbett was charged with two counts of third-degree sexual abuse of an underage female that occurred in 1991 while he was associate pastor at St. Theodore Church in Gates. Corbett was working in the Diocese of Rochester’s legal services office as part of diocesan marriage tribunal. Upon receiving the allegations, he was removed from this position. The criminal charge was later dismissed.

After the initial charges, another woman complained that Corbett abused her in 1974-1975 when she was 12 years old. The victim claimed Corbett fondled her and asked her sexually oriented questions while she was in the confessional. She said her parents told another priest and Corbett was transferred.

Corbett was sentenced to a life of Prayer and Penance per 2012 release. Corbett died in April 2021 at age 81.
