Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Brother John Walderman:

Brother John WaIderman was a member of the Congregation of Christian Brothers. In 1985, Brother John M. Walderman was arrested in Rhode Island for soliciting sex from a 17-year-old boy. At the time, Walderman was the principal of an all-boys school, Bishop Hendricken High School, in Warwick, Rhode Island.

He was released on bail.  One year later, the case was dismissed.  Upon dismissal of the case, Walderman was once again allowed to work in schools with young boys and with no additional supervision. Additionally, he stopped using his first name "John" and started using his middle name, going by J. Matthew Walderman.

He continued to work in schools until someone saw Walderman's name in a story detailing his successes. Upon seeing this article, this person reminded the Christian Brothers about Walderman's previous charge of solicitation of a minor from 20 years prior, wondering why he was still in ministry with children.

A priest aware of the circumstances said that Walderman should never have been permitted to work at Rice High School because his superiors knew of the arrest when it occurred.

Since the charges resurfaced, Walderman was removed from ministry and is no longer teaching. He is believed to be living in New Rochelle, New York.
