Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Paul J. Ranft:
According to media reports, Father Paul J. Ranft moved to Tucson from Kentucky in 1953 because of health problems, including severe asthma. In June 2004, a woman filed suit alleging abuse by Father Ranft and six other priests while she was a student at Immaculate Heart Academy from 1962-1965. Father Ranft was the main abuser listed in the petition.
Father Ranft was not on the Diocese of Tuscon’s list of clergy credibly accused of sexual abuse of minors which was first made public in summer 2002.
He died in 2001 at the age of 86.
