Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Stuart B. Campbell:

According to media reports, Father Campbell was ordained a Dominican priest. It is believed he left the order in about 1949. but is referred to again in the Directories as a Dominican from 1978 on. He moved frequently in his career. There are several periods of time throughout the decades whereby his name is not indexed or listed in the diocesan pages of the Directories. 

In January 2004, a lawsuit was filed in Fresno County accusing Father Stuart B. Campbell of child sexual abuse from 1956 to 1959, while he worked in the Monterey-Fresno diocese.

In December 2018, Father Campbell’s name was included on the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ updated list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors. It noted a report in 2010 of incidents from 1956-1959 and 1978-1980. The year of his death was noted as 1982. 

In late 2018, Father Campbell’s name appeared publicly on the Dominicans St. Joseph Province list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors. The year of his death was noted as 1986, and that the allegation was established in 2007. 

In April 2019, his name appeared on the Diocese of Reno’s list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors. there 1959-1976. It noted the year of his death as 1988. 

His name also his appeared on the Diocese of Las Vegas’ list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors, in April 2019.

According to the Diocese of Monterey Bishop Ryan, Campbell died in 1986.
