Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father James Ford:
Father James Ford was ordained a priest in 1966, who served in the Diocese of Orange. According to media reports, he was accused of sexually abusing a 14-yr-old altar boy in from 1966 to 1971 at Holy Family School in Orange. He denied the allegation and said that “there is no credibility whatsoever” to the accusations.
The Archdiocese of Los Angeles investigated and found no grounds to remove from him ministry. He was sent to Santa Barbara. His accuser, who told Bishop Malony of many other victims, sued the church in 2003 and eventually received a settlement totaling $1.1 million. The victim, said he discovered 19 other individuals who told him they had been molested by Father Ford.
In 1987, a memo was placed in Father Ford’s file stating there had been multiple hearsay, verbal reports speculating that Father Ford may be involved with inappropriate activity with high school boys. In 1994, the principal of San Roque reported that another teacher expressed concern about Father Ford inappropriately touching students.
