Summary of Abuse Allegations against Monsignor Daniel Murray:

Monsignor Daniel Murray was ordained a priest in 1973, who served in the Diocese of Orange as a former vocations director. According to media reports, he was accused of sexual misconduct in 1991. He denied the charges, and the Diocese reported they were unable to substantiate the claims. In 2003, Monsignor Murray was named in a lawsuit alleging that he sexually abused one child from 1973 to 1979.

In September 2004, a support group for clergy abuse victims sent a letter to a Catholic lay group asking it to declare that Orange County Bishop Tod D. Brown violated the U.S. Bishops Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People in a case involving Monsignor Daniel Murray of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The letter outlined three separate violations of the charter: that Monsignor Murray remained in his post; that the $500,000 settlement was kept secret for almost a year; and that the Diocese of Orange  refused to make the case public.

Monsignor Murray was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles' list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors. According to the Diocese of Orange's list, he was laicized, in 2019.
