Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father John McGinn:

Father John McGinn served in multiple parishes in the Archdiocese of Denver. According to media reports, in October 2019, the Colorado Attorney General released a detailed report of a special investigation into the handling of child sexual abuse allegations by Colorado's three Catholic dioceses.  For the first time, Fr. John J. McGinn was publicly identified as a priest with a documented report of sexual abuse.

According to the Report, in 1994 a woman contacted the Archdiocese of Denver to report that McGinn, her priest at St. James in Denver, sexually abused her.  She said that he brought her into the sacristy with him on two occasions and "fondled her all over."  She said the incidents occurred in the late 1950s or early 1960s, when she was about 8 or 9 years old.

The Report also indicates that the hesitant victim asked to meet with a female investigator, but refused the Archdiocese's invitation to meet with McGinn to "discuss her concerns directly with him."  A year later, after no investigation, the allegation was closed.

McGinn is believed to have died in 2002 as a retired priest in good standing.
