Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Mark Andrejczuk:

According to media reports, in February 2019, a woman filed a lawsuit under the NY Child Victims Act, alleging that Father Mark Andrejczuk of the Conventual Franciscans Buffalo order, sexually assaulted her multiple times from 1978 to 1981 while she was a student at Cardinal O’Hara High School. She was 14-years-old when the alleged abuse began and Father Andrejczuk was her science teacher. She said that he wrote passes to excuse her from class and sexually assaulted her in an empty classroom twice a week.

The lawsuit claims that the high school, the Franciscans and the Diocese of Buffalo were negligent in hiring and supervising Father Andrzejczuk and were reckless in their disregard for the safety of the girl. In October 2019, the Franciscan group argued that the Child Victims Act is unconstitutional and is fighting to have the case dismissed. It  alleged the plaintiff sustained violations and damages caused by a third-party, over whom the defendant had no control.
