Summary of Abuse Allegations against Monsignor John Kempczynski:
Monsignor John Kempczynski was ordained to the priesthood in 1951. He was named pastor of St. Rose of Lima in Forestville in 1969. He served for five years, and then became the pastor at St. Joseph in North Tonawanda. In 1981, he was named a monsignor and remained at St. Joseph until his retirement in 1995. He then served as a senior priest at St. Timothy Parish in the Town of Tonawanda.
According to media reports, in August 2019, he was named in a Child Victims Act lawsuit alleging that he repeatedly sexually abused a child, who was about 6 years old in 1971. The alleged abuse, which lasted for about a year, occurred while he was serving as the pastor of St. Rose of Lima in Forestville. The suit was the first time Monsignor Kempczynski has been accused. He died at the age of 89 in 2009.
