Summary of Abuse Allegations against Brother Richard Berryman:

Brother Richard Berryman was a member of the Congregation of Christian Brothers who served in the the Archdiocese of Newark. According to media reports, in August 2016, at least one allegation of child sexual abuse by Brother Berryman was settled “in the bankruptcy matter In re: The Christian Brothers’ Institute, et al.” The alleged sexual abuse occurred while Brother Berryman worked at Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, NJ in the early 1960s.

A $1.9 million settlement was reached between 21 childhood sexual abuse victims from Bergen Catholic High School. According to a copy of the settlement, the 21 alleged victims agreed to the payout in November 2015, in exchange for forgoing civil litigation against Bergen Catholic High School.

Berryman is no longer an Irish Christian Brother, and it is believed he lives in Florida.
