Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Anthony Joseph Eremito:

According to media reports, in 1991, New Jersey priest Fr. John Bambrick anonymously informed the Archdiocese of New York that Fr. Anthony Joseph Eremito sexually abused him for six months as a 15-year-old altar boy in NJ in 1980. Eremito was assigned to St. Joseph's Church in Keyport, New Jersey at the time of the alleged abuse.

The Archdiocese of New York told Bambrick there were close to a dozen more accusations, but would never elaborate on them. Eremito denied the allegations and brought a defamation claim against Bambrick.

In 1992, Eremito was removed from active assignments but was permitted to return to work in New Jersey from 1997 to 1998. He also worked in Lubbock, Texas at a children's hospital from 1998 until 2002, when his faculties were removed. As recently as 2006, he was working as a grief counselor at a Pennsylvania hospice until he was laicized that year.

In April 2019, Eremito's name appeared on the Archdiocese of New York's list of clergy credibly accused of sexual abuse of minors. His current whereabouts are unknown.
