Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Joseph Vogel:

Father Joseph Vogel was ordained to the priesthood in 1933. He served in multiple parishes throughout his career. According to media reports, in 2018, a woman alleged that when she was just 12-years-old in 1970, he sexually abused her in the rectory of Queen of Heaven in West Seneca. After the incident, she said that she told a nun, who was the principal of the school at the time. Her parents also claimed that they had spoken to the assistant pastor about the abuse as well. The victim said that nothing was done by either person in the church.

Father Vogel died in January of 1988, and was not included on the Diocese of Buffalo’s updated list on March 20th, 2018. The only included deceased clergy on the list were those who are the subject of more than one accusation.

The accuser was offered a small settlement through its compensation program.
