Summary of Abuse Allegations Against Deacon William Mahoney:

Deacon William Mahoney served as a patrolman in the 103rd Precinct in Jamaica, the Highway Taxi and Safety Squad in the Bronx, and the 109th Precinct in Flushing. After his retirement, he was ordained in the first class of the Permanent Diaconate in the Diocese of Rockville Centre in 1979. He served the parish of St. Ignatius Loyola in Hicksville, New York. Later, he was ordained as a priest in the Church of England. He served at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Deer Park, before retiring and moving to Iowa.

According to media reports, in August 2019, in a lawsuit filed under the NY Child Victims Act, he was accused of sexually abusing a 9-year-old child over a four year period from 1983 to 1986. The child was a student at St. Ignatius Loyola in Hicksville. Deacon Mahoney died in March 2019 at the age of 83.
