Summary of Abuse Allegations Against Father George Hein:
According to media reports, Father George Hein allegedly sexually abused a child at Holy Name of Mary in Valley Stream, New York in approximately 1966. In 1971, a report of child sexual abuse was made to another priest at Holy Name of Mary. Father Hein remained in ministry until his death in 1997.
Hein is listed on the Diocese of Rockville Centre’s 2021 List of Clergy Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse of a Minor. The list states that the alleged sexual abuse occurred while Hein worked at Holy Name of Mary Church in Valley Stream; St. Frances de Chantal Church in Wantagh; Notre Dame Church in New Hyde Park; and Immaculate Conception Seminary, sometime between 1954-1976. The list also says that Hein abused his victim(s) at the Roosevelt Field Mall and in Hein’s car. The details of the sexual abuse allegations, including the victim’s age/gender, are unknown.
