Father Richard Kammerer was ordained as a priest in 1980. According to media reports, in November 2018, Diocesan officials had received information causing them to be concerned about Father Kammerer's "interactions with youth." The priest he was removed from active ministry by the Diocese of Rockville Centre amidst allegations of engaging in sexual misconduct with children.
At the time of his removal, Father Kammerer had been serving as the associate pastor of Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church in Mineola, New York. His name is listed on the Diocese of Rockville Centre's 2021 List of Clergy Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse of a Minor. Nassau County's District Attorney's office is also investigating the allegations. He was last known to be residing in Bayville, New York
