Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father William Scanlon:

Father William Scanlon was ordained a Jesuit priest who worked at various schools and served in the Archdiocese of Newark. According to media reports, upon a 1994 investigation, he admitted to repeatedly sexually abusing at least two minors from approximately 1985 to 1994. He was “restricted,” yet in the Jesuits official magazine in 2010, Father Scanlon was shown giving Holy Communion. He was impeded in from exercising priestly ministry by the Jesuits in 2011.

His name is not listed in the 2018 edition of the Official Catholic Directory. He lived at the retirement residences of Murray-Weigel Hall at Fordham University in New York from at least 2008-2019, serving as its chaplain.

His name appeared in the 2019 revised list of “USA Northeast Province Jesuits with Credible Allegations of Sexual Abuse of a Minor.” Fr. Scanlon is believed to reside in New York, New York. His status as a priest and whether he has access to children are unknown.
