Summary of Abuse Allegations Against Priest R:

In 2003, the Suffolk County Grand Jury released a report of accusations made against 23 Roman Catholic priests in the Diocese of Rockville Centre. The priests, whose names were omitted, were identified only by letters in the report. According to the report, the identity of Priest R is believed to be unknown.

It stated that “Priest R was assigned to a Diocesan school when seven boys complained to the Diocese
that he had been sexually abusing them. He had also given them drugs, alcohol and pornography.
The boys routinely slept in this priest’s room in the rectory, it was common for them to ask each
other, “Who’s going to get the wood tonight?” Priest R usually picked out one boy per night to
sleep with him in bed. Priest R later admitted that all of the boys’ reports were true.”

When sent for a psychiatric evaluation, he disclosed he that he had been sodomized
by a priest as a child. An additional report noted that Priest R suffered from a severe personality disorder, and a clear sexual interest in adolescent males. Evaluators recommended that he have no ministry where he could associate with young men.
