Summary of Abuse Allegations Against Father Ernest Robinson:
According to media reports, Father Ernest Robinson was accused of sexually abusing an altar boy in 1980 while he served at St. Francis of Assisi in Greenlawn, New York. The alleged abuse was reported to the Diocese of Rockville Centre on the day it happened and many times afterward over the course of several years. No action was taken and he remained in ministry. On the day of the alleged abuse, Father Robinson reportedly told the boy that he had previously inappropriately touched the victim's friends. As such, it is believed there are many more victims.
The description of Priest K in the 2003 Suffolk County Grand Jury report matches public allegations against Father Robinson. In 2007, Father Robinson was convicted of indecent assault and battery on a child in Massachusetts in 2006.
In February 2018, Father Robinson's name appeared on Connecticut Sex Offender Registry. A month later, in March, a claim of child sexual abuse by Father Robinson was settled against the Diocese of Rockville Centre through the Diocese's Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program (IRCP). His current whereabouts are unknown. Robinson is listed on the Diocese of Rockville Centre's 2021 List of Clergy Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse of a Minor. It says that sexual abuse by Robinson occurred at St. Aidan Church in Williston Park; Saint Dominic R.C. Church in Oyster Bay; St. Francis of Assisi Church in Greenlawn; Fr. Robinson's car; Baiting Hollow Scout Camp; Boy Scout Campgrounds in Suffolk County; Catholic Boy Scout weekend retreat; a cabin in Port Jefferson; private house in Poquott, New York; hospital room; bungalow; private home in Long Island; and at a private home in Maine.
