Father John Richardson

Diocese of Raleigh

Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father John Richardson:

Father John Richardson served in the Diocese of Raleigh. According to media reports, in October 2018, the priest was publicly named on the Diocese’s list of clergy credibly accused of the sexual abuse of a minor. For a clergy member to be listed, the Review Board of the Diocese of Raleigh or another authority determined that the allegation made has a semblance of truth. This list covers the period from 1950 to 2018

The list states that in 1988, it received a report of child sexual abuse dating back to 1967. It also states he has been officially removed from ministry. No further information about the age/gender of the victim or the nature of the alleged abuse has been released.

The Diocese of Raleigh did not release any information about Richardson’s current location.
