Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Edward Boyle:

Fr. Edward Boyle was ordained as a member of the Redemptorist religious order but worked under the Diocese of Sacramento for most of his career. According to media reports, in 2002, a woman alleged that she was molested by Boyle in 1967 when she was only 17-years-old. Boyle was assigned to St. Joseph in Auburn, California at the time of the alleged abuse. According to the news article, the victim’s mother had reported the incident to another priest that was in the diocese at the time. 

Boyle was later transferred to Reno and then later to Hawaii. No further allegations have been made. 

His name has been included on the Diocese of Sacramento 2019 list of Clergy Serving in the Diocese of Sacramento Who Have Been Credibly Accused of Sexual Misconduct with Children/ Young People. 

Boyle died in 1998.
