Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Reginald Krakovsky:

Father Reginald Krakovsky was ordained in 1952, as a Third Order Regular Franciscan. He worked in parishes in Oregon, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and West Virginia. In 1995, Krakovsky was accused of sexually abusing a boy at a parish in St. Cloud, MN. The alleged abuse occurred in the early 1960's. His accuser also said that he knew of other former classmates who remembered being abused by Reginald Krakovsky.

According to the Pennsylvania Grand Jury Report that was released in August 2018, Krakovsky engaged in child sexual abuse with two minor boys. The crimes occurred at the Holy Family Church in Belle Prairie, MN. The matter resulted in civil litigation in 1994. Documents filed against the Franciscan order alleged that the order "breached a duty to provide a safe environment for a child by exposing the child to Father Reginald Krakovsky who was in a position of trust and authority." The suit names the St. Cloud Diocese and the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, but the Archdiocese denied it was responsible because it was an independent entity at the time.

Reginald Krakovsky was living at a Monastery in Altoona, Pennsylvania when he passed in July of 1997.

His name has been included on the St. Cloud diocese list as of January 2014, the Harrisburg Diocese's list as of August 2018, and the Wheeling-Charleston diocese list as of late 2018.

In February 2020, the Diocese of Harrisburg filed for bankruptcy protection. As part of its bankruptcy, the Diocese of Harrisburg will be reviewing and paying claims for anyone sexually abused by diocesan priests and lay employees. This will likely include claims filed on behalf of anyone whose case may be beyond the statute of limitations.

Reginald Krakovsky is one of the names involved in the bankruptcy proceeding; falling under the category of cases where abuse was alleged to have occurred in another diocese. He served in the diocese, but was not the subject of any allegation of abuse.

Horowitz Law is a law firm representing victims of sexual abuse in the Diocese of Harrisburg and throughout Pennsylvania. The Diocese of Harrisburg filed for federal bankruptcy protection in February 2020. Anyone sexually abused by a priest or employee of the Diocese of Harrisburg may be entitled to file a claim against the Diocese in these bankruptcy proceedings, but very strict filing deadlines apply.  Most victims of abuse in the Diocese of Harrisburg will never be able to take action against the Diocese of Harrisburg if they miss this bankruptcy filing deadline, so it is important that you contact us immediately to discuss your potential case.
