Summary of Abuse Allegations against Monsignor Patrick O’Toole:

In 1960, Msgr. Patrick O’Toole was ordained as a priest at All Hallows College, Drumcondra, Dublin, Ireland. Shortly after, he was assigned to the Diocese of Brooklyn. In 1986, he was elevated to Monsignor. In 2009, O’Toole retired to Pembroke Pines, Florida.

In September 2019, O’Toole was accused of sexually abusing a child in the Brooklyn Diocese in a lawsuit filed under the NY Child Victims Act.  According to the lawsuit, the alleged victim was abused while he served as O’Toole’s altar boy. He says the abuse occurred over a 9-year period from approximately 1979 to 1988 at St. Ann’s in Brooklyn, beginning when the boy was 9 years old. 

O’Toole died in 2017.
