Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Deacon Rosendo Dacal:

Deacon Rosendo Dacal was ordained in 2011, and served in the Diocese of Pittsburgh. According to media reports, in April 2018, he was arrested on charges related to sending and soliciting obscene images from an undercover police officer who was posing as a 14-year-old boy. He was then suspended from All Saints Parish in Etna.

He pleaded guilty in October to criminal solicitation of sexual abuse of children under a section of state law pertaining to depicting sexual acts via computer, photo, video or film. He was then sentenced in January 2019 to two years probation and 100 hours of community service. Rosendo Dacal was also ordered to register as a sex offender for 25 years.

Rosendo Dacal will remain on leave and cannot function as a deacon. He will have the right to a canonical review of his convictions led by the Vatican, which could lead to loss of his clergy status. He has also been included on the Diocese of Pittsburgh’s 2019 list of clergy against whom allegations have been made. He falls under the category of clergy who are living and have been removed from active ministry. His current whereabouts are unknown.
