Named publicly on the Franciscans’ Santa Barbara Province’s list in 2018, the Diocese of Phoenix list, and on the Diocese of Oakland’s List of credibly accused of sexual abuse of a minor in 2019, Fr. Jorge Lopez allegedly sexually abused a minor between 1975-1976 while working at St. Francis in Sacramento, CA. The abuse was reported to the Diocese of Sacramento in 1992, but there is no information listed as to what transpired.

Ironically, Lopez retired in 1997 and moved to Mexico. He died there in 2004.
