Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Michael French:

According to media reports, in 2003, the Diocese of San Diego was informed that Fr. Michael French had allegedly sexually abused a minor boy in approximately 1980 after meeting him at his parents' home in San Diego, California. A settlement was reportedly reached with the survivor.

French had been in San Diego from 1973 to study at the CA School of Professional Psychology. He was Chaplain in 1975 at a Benedictine convent. According to the 1988 Catholic Directory, French was a priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn, "Released from Diocesan Assignment." He was also the Director of Catholic Community Services and diocesan director of Worldwide Marriage Encounter.

French was included on the Diocese of San Diego's 2018 list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors.
