Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Oscar Figueroa:
In the eight short years in service with the church, Fr. Oscar Figueroa had plenty of time to cause some trouble. In 2008, accusations of sexual misconduct with a young adult male from 1993-2006 were reported to the Sacramento Diocese. Figueroa’s faculties were removed when the claims surfaced, but they were restored after a preliminary investigation in 2009 when the Bishop of Sacramento deemed the victim as a liar. When the Sacramento Diocese review board conducted a more thorough investigation, it revealed the discovery of another sexually abused male minor while in seminary in Mexico City.
Figueroa was then removed from ministry in 2009. In 2016, yet another allegation of abuse to a male minor was reported to the diocese. There is no information on what Figueroa is doing now or where he is living.
Figueroa was included on the Diocese of Sacramento 2019 list of priests credibly accused of child sexual abuse.
