Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Robert Petekiewicz:

Fr. Robert Petekiewicz was a transitional deacon in Brooklyn, New York who was transferred to the Diocese of Las Vegas, where he was ordained a priest. According to media reports, he was accused of financial impropriety, racial discrimination, and physically abusing children during his time at Our Lady of Las Vegas. In 2009, he was named in a civil lawsuit for allegedly sexually abusing a 9-year-old boy for four years, beginning in 1985 through 1989, while working as a deacon at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Brooklyn. Due to the statute of limitations, the suit was dismissed.

In February 2019, Petekiewicz’s name appeared publicly on the Diocese of Brooklyn’s list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors. It noted that in September 2015, he was permanently removed from ministry. In April 2019, his name also appeared on the Diocese of Las Vegas’ list, which noted his initial removal from ministry in 2008.

Petekiewicz’s current whereabouts are unknown.
