Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Uriel Ojeda:
In 2011, Fr. Uriel Ojeda was arrested after sexual abuse was reported to the Diocese of Sacramento. In 2012, Ojeda was sentenced to eight years in prison after pleading no contest to multiple sexual abuse allegations. According to media reports, he was charged with two counts of felony for lewd and lascivious acts with a teen girl said to have occurred between 2007 and 2009 during his time at Holy Rosary in Woodland, California.
Ojeda was dismissed from the priesthood in 2016 while serving time at the Sacramento Jail. He was released from prison in 2019 with no word on what he is up to now.
According to the victim's family, Ojeda began sexually abusing the girl when she was 13 years old. He was a guest in their home and would sneak into her bedroom at night. It was said in court that it continued over two years.
The Sacramento Bee reported that Ojeda apologized to the girl, her parents, and Catholic officials before going to jail. He's included in the Diocese of Sacramento list of priests credibly accused of child sexual abuse.
